What is the true reality of heaven and hell?
Answer:
Allah created man and sent prophets to guide him so that he could distinguish between right and wrong and prepare for his eternal life. After this life, there will come a day called the Day of Judgment when all humans will be rewarded and punished according to their deeds. This day will clarify the reality of heaven and hell.
Allah has prepared Paradise for His righteous servants, where all kinds of blessings are available. Paradise is mentioned in many places in the Holy Quran.
Allah says in the Quran: And those who believe and do righteous deeds, We will admit them to gardens beneath which rivers flow, to abide therein forever. Therein they will have pure wives, and We will admit them into dense shade.
(Surah An-Nisaa’ verse 57 )
The Quran and Hadith mention countless blessings of Paradise:
- In Paradise there will be rivers of milk, honey, wine and water. (Surah Muhammad, verse 15)
- The people of Paradise will be adorned with bracelets of gold and silver and given silken garments. (Surah Al-Hajj, verse 23)
- In Paradise, there will be all kinds of fruits, meat and other delicious foods. (Surah Al-Waqi'ah, Verses 20-21)
- Allah will give the people of Paradise beautiful wives. (Surah Ad-Dukhn, verse 54)
- The greatest blessing will be the sight of Allah, which will be the greatest joy for the people of Paradise. (Sahih Muslim 181)
There are many levels of Paradise and each person will be given a place in it according to his deeds.
Firdous: The highest level is that about which the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: When you ask Allah for Paradise, ask for Paradise of Firdous, for it is the highest and middle Paradise. And above it is the Throne of the Most Gracious. (Sahih Bukhari 2790)
There are three levels in Paradise, and the distance between each level is equal to the distance between the earth and the sky.
(Musnad Ahmad 8107)
Introduction to Hell:
Allah has prepared Hell for the disobedient and the disbelievers, where they will experience the most severe punishment.
Allah says in the Quran: "Verily, We have prepared for the wrongdoers a Fire whose walls will surround them."If they cry for water, they will be given water like molten copper that will scorch the face. It will be an evil drink, and Hell is an evil destination.
(Surah Al-Kahf, Verse 29)
The fire of Hell is 70 times hotter than the fire of this world.
(Sahih Bukhari 3265)
The people of Hell will be given pus and boiling water to drink.
(Surah Ibrahim, Verses 16-17)
There is a tree of Zaqqam in Hell. This tree will be the food of the people of Hell, which will be hot in their bellies like boiling water.
(Surah Ad-Dukhn, Verses 43-46)
The disobedient will be chained and their bodies will be beaten with iron hammers
(Surah Al-Hajj, Verse 21-22).
There will be disappointment and regret in Hell. In Hell, they will always regret, but their forgiveness will not be accepted.
(Surah Furqan, Verse 11-14)
The Quran says about the lowest level of Hell:
Allah says in the Quran: "For the hypocrites is the lowest degree; indeed, the hypocrites will be in the lowest degree of Hell."
(Surah An-Nisaa', verse 145)
Different levels of Hell have been designated for the disbelievers, polytheists, oppressors, and sinners.
Who is entitled to heaven and hell?
Those who go to heaven:
- Those who believe and do righteous deeds will enter Paradise. (Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 82)
- Those who are righteous will enter Paradise. (Surah Imran, Verse 133)
- Those who are patient, those who pray, and those who put their trust in Allah will enter Paradise. (Surah Az-Zumar, verse 73)

Belief in the reality of heaven and hell is part of the faith of every Muslim. This world is a place of testing and we should live our lives thinking about our afterlife. To achieve Paradise, we must have faith, piety, patience, charity, and good deeds. To avoid Hell, it is necessary to repent from sins, fulfill the rights of the servants, and have true love and fear of Allah.
May Allah admit us to Jannah Al-Firdaus and protect us from the punishment of Hellfire, Ameen
