The importance and virtue of Ramadan:
Ramadan means the month of Ramadan, which is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar.
This month is very holy and blessed for Muslims because the Quran was revealed in this month.
The word Ramadan comes from the Arabic word ramz, which means intense heat or burning. The reason is that fasting during Ramadan burns away a person's sins and purifies them spiritually.
Allah says in the Quran: “The month of Ramadan is that in which was revealed the Quran, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs of guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong).”
(Al-Baqarah verse 185)
This verse makes it clear that the month of Ramadan is very special because of the revelation of the Holy Quran. The Quran is a source of guidance for humans, and fasting in Ramadan brings a person closer to his Lord.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, "When the month of Ramadan comes, the gates of Paradise are opened, the gates of Hell are closed, and the devils are chained."
(Sahih Bukhari 3277)
This hadith shows that the month of Ramadan is a month of mercy, forgiveness, and salvation from Hell. The influence of the devils is reduced in this month, which makes it easier for a person to turn to good deeds.
The virtues of fasting in Ramadan:
Fasting during Ramadan is one of the five fundamental pillars of Islam.
Allah says in the Quran: “O you who have believed, fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may become righteous.” (Surah Al-Baqarah, Verse 183)
The purpose of fasting is to attain piety, that is, to avoid disobeying Allah Almighty and to follow His commands.
The virtues of Ramadan nights:
One of the last ten nights of Ramadan is Laylat al-Qadr, which is better than a thousand months.
Allah says in the Quran: "Indeed, We sent down this Quran on the night of Qadr. And what will make you know what the night of Qadr is? The night of Qadr is better than a thousand months."
(Surah Al-Qadr, verses 1-3)
The one who worships on this night receives countless rewards and this night is sought after in the last ten nights of Ramadan.
Note:
The month of Ramadan is a great opportunity for Muslims to gain spiritual training, self-purification, and piety. During this month, the pleasure of Allah is sought through the recitation of the Quran, prayer, fasting and other acts of worship.
Searching for and worshipping Laylatul Qadr, especially during the nights of Ramadan, is of great importance. In this month, the mercy and blessings of Allah Almighty descend and there is an opportunity for forgiveness of sins.
